Willis Michael “Willie” Newby, 67, of Pierceton, IN passed away at 8:10 a.m. on Friday, May 13, 2022 at his home. He was born on January 3, 1955 in Muncie, IN to Willis & Annabelle (McColley) Newby.
He moved to the North Webster / Pierceton area in the late 1960’s from Muncie, IN and graduated from Wawasee High School in Syracuse. He was married on April 3, 2007 in North Webster, IN to Kathryn L. “Kathy” (Anderson) Myers who survives. He retired from Conrail Railroad in 1997 and was currently employed part time at Jellystone Park in Pierceton, IN.
He was a former member of the Catholic Church in Pierceton, Masonic Lodge, Mizpah Shriners, and Sons of the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, and deer, turkey, and bear hunting. He enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with his family & friends.
He is survived by:
Wife – Kathy Newby of Pierceton
Daughter – Kalea Brouyette of Kokomo
Son – Rusty (Logan) Newby of Rochester
Stepson – Trenton (Mary) Myers of War, W. VA
7 Grandchildren – Kamryn, Payton, Faith, Hope, Kaden, Brayden, and Eathan
Sister – Mary Margaret Schaefer of Syracuse
Aunt - Cyndee (Bob) Ulmer of Avon Park, FL
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. St. Rd. 15, Warsaw, IN. Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2022 at the Mock Addition of the North Webster Cemetery with Pastor Tim Jones officiating. Owen Family Funeral Home, St. Rd 13 & CR 500N, North Webster, IN is in charge of arrangements.
Preferred memorials may be given to the North Webster E.M.S. or North Webster Fire Dept., P.O. Box 144, North Webster, IN 46555.
